     Mohammad Junayd Khan: Chair of The Living Arrow

Mohammad’s commitment to combating social isolation is rooted in years of frontline community service. Growing up on Camden’s Regent's Park Estate, he studied Engineering and Business at the University of Warwick before dedicating his working life to the care sector. For over sixteen years, Mohammad has volunteered as a Dementia Befriender with Age UK Camden, an experience that inspired his lifelong passion for supporting older residents. His work was recognised with the National Age UK Befriending Volunteer of the Year award in 2016, and he later served a five-year term as a Safeguarding Trustee for the charity.

Professionally, Mohammad has worked as a care manager and General Manager within extra-care services in Camden, focusing on building stable local teams, raising care standards, and fostering vibrant communities. Believing strongly that loneliness is best tackled by bringing generations together, his work has helped bridge the gap between older adults, local schools, and community groups—efforts that contributed to winning the Health Investor Seniors Housing Award for partnership work and sharing grassroots insights with the House of Lords APPG on Housing and Care for Older People. More recently, he addressed the full council chamber as an expert on adult social care, calling for urgent action on the national care crisis.

Outside of the care sector, Mohammad is an active local advocate and parent. Raising a profoundly autistic daughter has deeply informed his perspective, supporting his role as Chair of Governors at Netley Primary School, where he advocates for inclusive education and funding. Deeply rooted in Somers Town, he has also worked to hold landlords accountable as a tenants' association representative, and recently stood as a grassroots independent candidate for the Regent's Park ward by-election, securing strong community backing around shared values of care and accountability.

The Living Arrow operates as a registered working name of Positive Action for Family and Youth (Charity No. 1147472), where Mohammad now serves as Chair. It brings together a dedicated board with a simple, shared mission: ensuring that no older person in our community is left invisible, and that the wisdom of the past is actively connected to the energy of the future.
